Funerals with Big Love
Losing someone you love changes everything.
In those first raw days and weeks, the thought of planning
a funeral can feel impossibly hard.
I want you to know: you don't have to navigate this alone.
Walking this path together
I'm here to help you create a farewell that feels right - one that captures the essence of your person and brings your community together. I'm here to guide you gently through each decision, ensuring nothing feels rushed or forced.
No matter what your spiritual beliefs, cultural traditions, or family dynamics, you'll find acceptance and understanding here. Every family deserves a celebrant who truly listens, someone who takes the time to understand your loved one's story and helps you tell it beautifully.
My approach is collaborative and unhurried. We'll have honest conversations about what matters most to you, and I'll help transform those memories and stories into a ceremony that brings comfort & celebrates life.
I'll be right there with you, offering gentle guidance and practical support, making sure you feel heard and understood every step of the way. There's no judgment here - just genuine care for you and respect for your person.

How to get started….
Getting started might feel overwhelming when you're in the midst of grief, but I'm here to make this process as gentle and manageable as possible.
We begin with a simple phone call where you can share as much or as little as you're ready to - there's no pressure, just space for you to breathe and tell me a little about your person and what you're hoping for & any plans they put in place.
From there, we'll schedule a longer conversation (usually in your home or somewhere comfortable for you or even via Zoom) where we dive deeper into who your person was, what mattered to them, and what feels right for your family.
I'll ask you questions you might not have considered and offer suggestions based on what I'm hearing from you.
We discuss who will write and deliver eulogies and tributes, what music will be used, what rituals are fitting, how the service is to feel, what colours/special items of clothing to wear, do we include songs/prayers/a call & response? We will probably come up with ideas together that you hadn’t thought of before… people often say, “Oh! I didn't know we could do that!” or “Oh! I hadn’t thought of that!”
So, we stay open to inspiration and all the ideas that come to us in mysterious ways and together we create a time of beauty, of sorrow, of togetherness- a time which honours your person and sets you on your path of bereavement.
Once we've sketched out the shape of your ceremony together, I'll go away and write a first draft, then we'll refine it together until it feels exactly right.
I’ll assist with the logistics - liaising with the funeral director, venues, musicians, whoever needs to be involved - to help lighten the load. The whole process usually takes place over a week or two, but we can work to whatever timeline feels right for you.

“Jo, you honoured our Mother in so many ways and there are honestly no words that will convey our level of gratitude. In such a short time you were able to appreciate who she was and convey this in your words. Thank you for being you, for creating such a nurturing space and connectedness with your clients”
